Fly -tipping – Newport S. Wales
Long term and persistent fly-tipping in Morris St, Newport, South Wales
These photographs were taken by local business man Richard Weller. They are all of the same location at the end of Morris St.
This situation has been on-going for several years in spite of his complaints to Newport City Council
The occupiers of a HMO – (House of Multi-Occupation) are believed to be responsible for most of the routine fly-tipping. Whilst the rubbish they place in official pink bags is removed by the council other material is only dealt with when a complaint is received.
No attempt to prosecute or fine those responsible has been made by the council.
I am working with Mr Weller to see how we can get the Newport City Council to remedy the situation.
On 11th January Mr Weller wrote to the council reminding them of their duty under to Environmental Protection Act and proposing a course of action to remedy the situation.
