Derbyshire – A61 and A617cleaned only once a year

In reply to a complaint about the littered condition of the A61 and A617 Linda McGeachie received a letter from Derbyshire County Council.
They correctly explained that the District and Borough Councils were responsible for litter clearance on these roads but, as the Highways Authority, they provided the necessary traffic management (conning off lanes) to ensure this could be carried out safely. This work was done at the same time as gully emptying and sweeping. However “to minimise the cost and disruption to traffic this is only usually once a year.”
