Today I counted 23 plastic ties on the traffic ligths and adjacent sign posts at the top of my road. Some of them can be seen in these photographs. The lights are at the junction between Ruislip High Street and Kingsend in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

The ties have accumulated over a considerable period of time. The junction is typical of the locations chosen for this type of illegal advertising. While the adverts are eventually removed the ties seem to be left in place for considerably  longer.

I have written to LB Hillingdon asking them to equip their street cleaners with the means for cutting the ties so that they and the adverts can be removed from the busiest loactions on a daily basis.

This will prevent the accumualtion of the ties and, more importantly, discourage the posting of the adverts in the first place.
