Subject: Motorway Litter – update (2)

Richard,

The petition numbers have crept up to 260. See  https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/motorway-litter

Since my submission more evidence has come to light of the Highways Agency failure to comply with their EPA S89(1) duty.

Their new Litter Strategy makes no mention of it!

They have said that they only clean the M23 every other month !

M32 J1 has not been properly cleaned for over 2 years !

Stats show a sharp decline in cleaning in Area10 (north-west) under their new contract !

Andrew Gwynne MP has written to Robert Goodwill with photographs that problems in Area 10 have still not been resolved !

Hopefully the Committee will decide to consider by submission as part of it’s inquiry into the Strategic Road Network.

Kind regards,

Peter Silverman
